Not bad but 2 slight changes 1. 2020 1st should be 2021 1st Habs are not trading a potential to 15 pick this year. 2. Habs only give up one of Domi or Kotkaniemi they can't give up 2 centers they lose too much depth. Domi + Mete + Juulsen + 2021 1st + 2020 2nd or Kotkaniemi + Mete + 2021 1st + 2020 2nd

Preferably though the Habs just sign Hall at 7 × 7. Then trade Domi or Drouin for either Gostisbehere or Brodin straight up and Chiarot for picks/ Prospects. That fixes 2 of the major issues for the Habs all while giving up very little and none of the future.

Habs then line up

Hall-Suzuki-Gallagher
Domi/ Drouin-Kotkaniemi-Tatar
Lehkonen-Danault-Armia
Byron-Evans-Weal
Brodin/ Gostisbehere-Weber
Romanov-Petry
Mete-Fleury
Price
Demchenko.

ROFLMAO says the guy who cheers for a team that couldn't hold their own in a league without a hard cap system. If it weren't for the cap your team wouldn't even exist. Yes Laine scores goals but inconsistently and with the way he approached the off-season saying he WOULD sign an offersheet the Jets should definitly lower their expected return price. The only way the jets even get a decent return for Laine through a sign and trade which was my original point unless he is signed to a contract there is NO WAY the Jets get what they are asking. If he was signed yes Chevy's ask would be about right valuewise BUT HE IS NOT SIGNED! Therefore the receiving team still has to negotiate with the player who sees himself as being worth more than he is.

Most MB would give up for Laine would be something like Fluery or Juulsen + Evans or Mete + a second if the Jets say no he just waits for the season to start and has Laine sign an offersheet of 10 mil which gives them the same level of picks.

Purhaps you should do your own research. let's take Burokovski and the Caps as an example again. The caps said they were in win now mode and therefore would not take less
Than a roster player with term and a prospect for him. What did they actually get? 2 second round picks. That is called POSTURING which is a very common thing in the NHL. GMs use it to get the best deal they can. Besides what team would give up that ask when all they have to do is have Laine wait for the season to start and sign their offersheet. At 9.5 or 10 mil they would only have to give up 2 firsts and a second. Just like MB DoD with the Aho signing. Oh I am sorry did you actually think that was about Aho himself? Sorry to burst your bubble but it was actually about posturing for a bigger RFA. Think about it the OS had to be enough for the player to sign but low enough and for the right term to get matched. Why do the Habs need another possible first line center? They have Domi, Kotkaniemi, Poehling, Suzuki, Danault, Evans and so on. But what it really did was show the other GMs that if he doesn't like the ask he will just wait until the season starts and sign the player for what he wants to give up. Which scenario makes the most sense? Chevy will NOT get what he is asking and the acquiring team will probably give up slightly more than what they want but actual valuewise right now he isn't worth what he would be signed. The key to this is that Laine already said he would sign an offersheet which makes MB's posturing stronger than Chevy's.

And Chevy is an idiot if he actually thinks teams will pay that much when Burakovsky's rights were just traded for way less and Gusevs rights were traded as well for way less granted Laine is an upgrade over either of these guys but he would still need to be signed which with the way his negotiations are going lowers his value considerably. So if he was really to trade Laine's rights it would likely be for about 2 firsts and a second or 2 roseter players and a decent prospect or a great roster player 1-for1. So something like Juulsen, Byron and Drouin or Domi straight up (which I personally would never do from a Habs stand point) or even Brook, Kulak and a 1st.
